Title: Python/MYSQL Web Developer

Brief Description: Simple Station Inc. is a small, modern, website development company based in Victoria close to the Fernwood Square and is looking to hire a talented, creative and communicative Python / Pylons developer on a contract basis. We write cutting edge code and as a result are looking for a cutting edge developer to work with our engineering team. We have a very flexible work environment and allow all our developers to set their own schedule and work from anywhere in the world.

The position will involve a prominent role in developing MediaCore, which is our open source video and podcasting platform. We require a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week but preference will be given to applicants who can work 25 hours or more per week.

To be successful in this position, you should possess the following skills:

• Advanced proficiency in standards based XHTML and CSS.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and JavaScript
• Experience in object oriented design and methodologies including MVC.
• Experience using MYSQL 5 or Postgresql.
• Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Independent judgment and initiative.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• A self-starter with good analytical, writing and communication skills.

Preference will be given to applicants who meet the above criteria and also have experience in any of the following:

• Experience using the TurboGears or Pylons framework for Python.
• Experience with Javascript frameworks such as MooTools.
• Knowledge of Amazon EC2 or S3 API’s.
• General knowledge of LAMP.
